Using your own custom made stamps will not only bring you the personal satisfaction of working with your own designs, it will also give your work a level of personal style that commercial stamps never could. Students will be exposed to a variety of traditional and unconventional ways to make their own stamps while focusing on hand carving. In this class, you'll learn not only about design, but how to attach your pieces using jump rings and to finish your necklace with the perfect clasp. You may use base metal or precious metal; the material cost will vary accordingly.
Advanced Techniques in Tunisian Crochet (2 hours) (Prerequisite: familiarity with Tunisian Crochet Simple Stitch). Take your skills to the next level with this advanced class. We will make several swatches and learn exciting techniques including: * Advanced stitches - Knit, Purl, and Plain; * Fabric shaping - increases, decreases and short rows; * Colorwork - simple stripes with two colors; and * Working in the round - to make wristwarmers, hats and more!
If you’ve always wanted to try batik but were afraid and overwhelmed, this is the class for you. Soy wax, which was originally developed to make candles, makes the job of batiking much easier. There are no unhealthy fumes to worry about exhausting. The melting point of soy wax is much cooler than traditional batik wax, so the risk of fire is very small. Also, soy wax is water-soluble! A traditional technique with contemporary styling and materials. Small Glass seed beads are first strung on thread and the crocheted iwth a crochet hook to amake a bracelet that has flexibility, strength, and rolls on. The class is two sessions. In the first, you will learn how to crochet and in the second you will be instructed on starting and ending your work to form a continuous bracelet.
